Orison Foundation is proud to partner with the National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA) in promoting sustainable agricultural practices, organic farming, and capacity building of farmers for better productivity and income generation. Through this collaboration, we aim to create a positive impact on the lives of farmers and contribute to the overall development of the agricultural sector.

One of our successful initiatives in association with NMSA was the implementation of an organic farming project in the district of Madurai, Tamil Nadu. The project focused on training 300 farmers in organic cultivation techniques, with the aim of increasing their crop yields and improving their livelihoods.

The organic farming project in Madurai was designed to address the challenges faced by farmers in conventional farming methods, such as excessive use of chemicals, depletion of soil fertility, and environmental degradation. By adopting organic farming practices, we aimed to create a sustainable and environmentally friendly approach to agriculture.

The training provided to the farmers covered various aspects of organic farming, including soil health management, pest and disease control, water conservation, and the use of organic fertilizers. The farmers were also educated about the benefits of organic farming, such as improved soil quality, reduced input costs, and better market opportunities for organic produce.

Through the implementation of these techniques, the farmers in Madurai experienced a significant increase in their crop yields. On average, their yields improved by 40%, leading to a substantial increase in their income. This not only improved their financial stability but also enhanced their confidence in sustainable farming practices.

Furthermore, the project also had a positive impact on the environment. By reducing the use of chemicals and promoting organic alternatives, we were able to minimize soil and water pollution, protect biodiversity, and preserve the natural ecosystem.

Our collaboration with NMSA goes beyond just implementing projects. We also focus on capacity building of farmers, empowering them with the knowledge and skills required for sustainable farming. Through workshops, training programs, and farmer field schools, we aim to equip farmers with the necessary tools to adopt sustainable practices and overcome the challenges they face.

Through our partnership with NMSA, we are committed to promoting sustainable farming practices and creating a more resilient agricultural sector. By working together, we can contribute to the well-being of farmers, protect the environment, and ensure food security for future generations.
